Because being around active people is motivating, and because active people are generally positive people.
I have beefy arms. I can never keep off those last 5 pounds. This cellulite is genetic, but I'm determined to shake some of it. Once I reach a goal, I tend to get bored and quit because I know I can do it.
I'm competitive and motivated by other motivated people, so being in a motivated, goal-oriented group will be a good reminder to remain focused on a healthy lifestyle.

I eat a lot. Healthy food, but a lot. I don't think "fat-free" and "low-fat" or restricting diets are the right fit for me (ie, no olive oil would never work). Stopping when I'm not hungry, instead of eating until I'm full.
There is equal attention paid to nutrition and to fitness. These aren't meetings about dieting. These are meetings about having a healthy lifestyle. That's a refreshing change.
